This is a permanent opportunity working for well-established and highly successful SME manufacturing organisation who have built an excellent reputation in their market based on their innovation and high standards. To support continued growth, they are now looking to bring in a Head of Operations to take responsibility for the operational aspects of the business and drive strategy over manufacturing, logistics, warehouse and procurement to support their growth in structured manner.
The Head of Operations will be responsible for:
• Overseeing all manufacturing operations to ensure efficient, high-quality production to schedule, and deliver agreed results to customers within the agreed timescale.
• Responsible for leading a team of direct and indirect reports across Manufacturing, Logistics, Warehousing and Procurement.
• Implementing and managing lean processes to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Developing and managing production schedules, inventory control, materials planning, labour and contingency plans.
• Monitoring key performance metrics and implementing data driven strategies to optimise processes.
• Collaborating with leadership team to forecast demand, manage budgets and drive profitability.
• Working with the MRP system to streamline operations between different site locations.
• Identifying and addressing bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvements.
• Reviewing and implementing solid SOPs and ensuring that all processes are scalable and align to the company’s growth and profitability objectives.
• Leading and developing operations team, providing coaching, training, and performance management.
Skills and experience required:
• Must have significant experience within an Operations Management role looking to develop, or in a similar role, such as Head of Operations or Operations Director, within an engineering and/or manufacturing business.
• Project management experience will be essential.
• Experience in bespoke manufacturing/bespoke engineering.
• Very strong leadership qualities with experience managing multi-disciplined teams such as Manufacturing, Logistics, Warehousing and Procurement.
• Experience with modern MRP systems.
• Excellent communication, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
• Able to demonstrate strong financial awareness and experience with resource planning and budgeting.
