Summary
Receptionist/OPD Clerk for Orthopaedic Consultant Outpatient Clinics and Nurse Pre Operative Assessment Clinics
First point of contact for patients attending Orthopaedic Outpatient Appointments. Meeting and greeting and booking them in and out of clinic. Making sure details are correct and up to date, and that the correct outcomes and any necessary appointments are entered onto the Electronic Patient Record system, ensuring that the patient pathway is followed appropriately and in line with national guidelines. Provide information service for patients (including distressed and anxious patients/relatives as required). Be aware of the needs and concerns of patients and provide a friendly, efficient and courteous service to patients, relatives and visitors, providing them with advice and information as appropriate. Use empathetic approach to patients and/or relatives seeking assistance from clinical staff/senior managers as appropriate.

The successful candidate will work as part of the Outpatient administrative team and we are looking for someone with good organisational and interpersonal skills. Someone with good time management and flexibility, the ability to use their own initiative and a strong team player.
To work as part of a clinical team assisting the Outpatient Supervisor and OPD Manager to ensure that patients are scheduled efficiently for outpatient appointments, investigative treatments, diagnostic procedures within national guidelines and in accordance with the trust’s Patients Access, Booking and Choice Policy. This includes: NHS Constitution, waiting time standards; Department of Health admission guidelines and booking rules. Ensure that patients are informed with reasonable notice, and that all relevant paper work is completed for given appointment. This includes ensuring that all elective attendances are promptly and accurately recorded on the appropriate PAS system(s) including Bluespier and ERS within one working day of receipt/decision to treat.
