Team NNUH is looking for Healthcare Assistants (HCA) to join the Temporary Staffing Team and help deliver the highest quality of care to our patients via the Nurse Bank.

On a day-to-day basis working as a Bank HCA, you could be working in a wide range of different clinical areas, including adult inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, the emergency department, critical care, and more. You will be required to care for patients at all stages of their lives, with a wide range of medical conditions and individual care needs.

If you are passionate about caring for people, enjoy working as part of a team in a busy, fast-paced environment, and have excellent communication skills, then working flexibly via our Nurse Bank could be the role for you.

Experience working as a HCA or carer is desirable but not mandatory. We are seeking individuals who share our PRIDE Values of People Focus, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence and who want to make a difference to our patients' experience on a daily basis.

You must be aged 18 or above and will need enthusiasm, motivation and confidence as you will be expected to work in a variety of areas across our Hospital.

As a Bank HCA, you will have a full induction with supernumerary time, and once in post, you will be expected to work 1-2 shifts per month.

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, work with all members of the multidisciplinary team, to contribute to the provision of the highest standards of patient care delivered with dignity, respect and compassion. Pay scale:

Between £12.08h basic and up to £22.10 during unsocial hours. *

Steps to becoming a bank HCA

Make an application via Trac – Fill in this application with as much information as possible. Make sure to look at the job description and take this into account when writing your personal statement.
1. Preselection & Interview – If you are shortlisted from your application, you will be asked to attend a Preselection & Interview Day. This includes basic Literacy and Numeracy tests and a short interview.
2. Recruitment – If you are successful at Pre-selection and interview it’s now time to complete your recruitment checks. This includes an ID, DBS, Occupational health, and employment/education references check.
3. Training – Once you have completed your recruitment checks we will provide two-week training course to deliver the skills you will need to work in a busy hospital and will support you to undertake the nationally recognised Care Certificate Training Programme over the next 3 months as you work for us.
4. After successfully completing your training course you are now a bank HCA and can initially work in all general areas of the hospital. Once you gain some experience within the general areas of the hospital you will have the opportunity to work within more specialised areas of the hospital (Paediatrics, A&E, maternity etc.).
