Summary

Senior Payroll and Pensions Officer

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Payroll and Pensions Officer to support with the management of the team and to oversee our payroll and pension functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing, pension administration, and management. Candidates will ideally have experience in using iTrent or a similar system where skills are transferrable.
This post part of the HR & OD function which is responsible for ensuring the Council has right people, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right level and at the right cost to enable us to meet our LET’S DO It! vision for Bury. The HR & OD function provide the technical and specialist people management expertise to make this happen and drive the development of the organisation’s people and culture

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Lead & mentor team members, including conducting regular performance reviews
Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and company policies.
Prepare and submit payroll reports and BACS files.
Provide expert advice and support to employees regarding payroll and pension queries.
Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and compliance.

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Hybrid working model in place.
