Summary
We are looking for a part-time Cook to join our team at April Court.
April Court is a 17 bedroomed residential home that provides care and support for people with learning disabilities. It is situated in the Kinson area which is around 5 miles away from Bournemouth town centre.
This role will include working with the residents and staff in a busy kitchen that is used by all residents and staff throughout the day.
The prospective candidate must have the skills and ability to cook meals for the residents from basic, fresh ingredients, very little is pre-prepared.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining sufficient stocks and ensuring effective stock control systems are in place.
- Maintaining all kitchen records including involvement in budgetary control of provisions.
- Ensuring the kitchen area is kept to a good standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
- Ensuring all kitchen equipment is in efficient working order.
- Observance of safety regulations including the appropriate use of safety materials.
- Adhering to the Catering Manual and all relevant policies.
The successful candidate should have:
- Knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Excellent food hygiene and catering provision knowledge.
- A recognised catering qualification NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
- Knowledge of basic kitchen management.
- Effective communication skills.
Part-time - 28 hours per week, working Sunday to Thursday
The interview will include a skills-based assessment of your cooking and a formal interview.
