Further details about the role
The school hold high expectations for all students, so we require a passionate teacher who can support students achieve their best. If you are a dedicated teacher, able to form excellent educational relationships with students, we would love to hear from you!
The Priory Learning Trust (Somerset Business Award winner for Employer of the Year) is looking to recruit a Primary Teacher for our ELP (Enhanced Learning Provision) to work at The King Alfred School - An Academy, rated 'Good' by Ofsted November 2022. A secondary school at the heart of the community, where we believe it is our role to develop the next generation into successful citizens.
The transition to secondary school from primary school represents a significant shift in environment for all children, but particularly so for those identified as having Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).
An ELP sits within a mainstream secondary school and delivers tailored and high-quality teaching to pupils with SEND who are working at KS1 curriculum levels or who may have other identified needs which makes them more vulnerable than their peers at transition. An ELP uses skilled teachers with additional training and experience and small groups to maximise achievement and progress primarily in core subjects, while supporting these pupils to access the wider mainstream curriculum alongside their peers.
The King Alfred School Academy is a happy school where staff and students enjoy working together. We provide a calm purposeful learning environment where all students are supported and encouraged to ‘do their best’. Our ethos is strong with core values of respect, tolerance and courtesy. We set high standards of behaviour and promote respect and responsibility – values needed to support our young people in being successful throughout their lives.
At TKASA, we also look after our colleagues. We offer high quality development opportunities and a supportive, dynamic and diverse workplace, highly supported by a hands-on team in all areas, from support, to teaching, to senior leadership.
As part of this role, you will;
• Take responsibility for planning and implementing agreed schemes of work for all children in the designated intervention, within the framework of statutory and recommended national and Academy policies.
• Ensure that all students experience a broad, balanced and stimulating curriculum offer, in line with the agreed curriculum maps and statutory guidance.
• Create a secure, safe and stimulating classroom environment and maintain the highest standards of organisation, behaviour and discipline.
Commitment to safeguarding
The Priory Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All paid positions which involve working regularly within academies are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. You must declare all convictions (including convictions with Absolute Discharge), cautions or bind-overs you may have, even if they would otherwise be regarded as ‘Spent’ under this Act and where applicable any disqualifications under the Childcare Act.
The successful candidate will have;
• Qualified Teacher Status.
• Passion for a specialist subject.
• Relevant teaching experience.
