Summary
To facilitating the training and development of nursing/ODP staff and the implementation of evidence based practice by supporting staff in clinical practice thus contributing to the continual development of quality services provided to patients and others who come into contact with the Trust. The post holder will support the development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and audit of nursing/midwifery/ODP policies, protocols, guidelines and standards ensuring that they meet current practice and professional regulations
1. Act professionally, developing the role of the nurse/ODP in the best interests of the patient and profession in accordance with the relevant professional body codes of professional conduct,
2. Maintain an identifiable clinical presence, work in practice and undertake relevant clinical activities to maintain own clinical competency and to support staff in developing clinical practice.
3. Ensure that evidence-based practice is developed and implemented to improve patient care.
4. Acquaint the Lead Nurse for Theatres, Theatre Managers and Clinical Facilitators with professional, operational or clinical concerns and promote professional practise at all times
***This role also offer secondment is for 9 months and will be full time. It will not be a job share. You must also have full support from your line manager to apply for this secondment. ***

Clinical Leadership
1 Act as a clinical role model for effective clinical leadership enabling and facilitating others to take

Education and Development
1 Liaise with the Lead Nurse for Theatres, Theatre Managers and Clinical Facilitators to identify the
development and training needs of nursing/midwifery staff healthcare support workers within
designated clinical areas according to individual needs and service requirements.
2 Develop, implement and evaluate competency based training programmes and facilitate learning
opportunities to meet the educational and skills development needs of nursing/ODP, healthcare
support workers.
3 Facilitate and support the development and implementation of preceptorship programmes for
newly appointed staff.
