Summary

RPS is looking for a Senior Consultant (Built Heritage) to join us in delivering a diverse range of projects across the UK. We can offer you hybrid working arrangements based in either London, Abingdon, Gloucester, Newark, or Edinburgh. You will join an established team where you can develop your skills and experience preparing Built Heritage Assessments and providing consultancy advice.

About The Opportunity:

You will work both individually and as a member of diverse teams to deliver multiple projects simultaneously to agreed timeframes. We offer an unrivalled range of project experience, learning from one of the most established and respected heritage teams in the country – with roots going back more than 25 years. As part of that team, you will be mentored to provide rapid career progression (for the right candidate with the right mindset).

What you will be doing

You will primarily assist the Built Heritage Directors to complete ongoing projects. Your work will include:

· Historic research

· Analysis of historic buildings and areas

· Advice on repairs and alterations to listed buildings and other heritage assets

· Preparation of Heritage Statements and input into the EIA process

· Preparation of Conservation Management Plans and Strategies

· Liaison with clients, local planning authorities and relevant stakeholders

About You:

· You will be positively disposed to influencing development so that schemes are tailored where possible to enhance the historic environment

· Commercially aware - with a pragmatic attitude to finding solutions to client problems.

· Technically experienced – with experience of having written Conservation Area appraisals, Statements of Significance, applications for Listed Building Consents and input into Environmental Impact Assessments.

· Confident to engage with key stakeholders to actively assist our clients to deliver much needed residential, distribution and renewables schemes

· Outstanding verbal and written communication techniques

· A relevant degree or masters degree in the conservation of historic buildings and places

· Hold or be working towards Associate Membership of the IHBC

· Good knowledge of the English planning system

· You will hold a clean driving license
