An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Berkshire ImmunisationTeam based in theWestof Berkshire.TheImmunisationteamis responsible forproviding routine and catch-upImmunisationsto children and young people in schools and community settings across Berkshireand support the delivery of flu and covid to employees of Berkshire Healthcare.


We are looking for a self-motivated and dynamic registered Nurse,Midwifeor Paramedicwho has experience of working with children and young people in the community and who is passionate about the public health benefits of vaccination.


The role is term time only (39/41 weeks)in theBerkshireWest Team (covering Wokingham, Reading and West Berkshire).You will be expected to travel across all three localities to visit schools, support clinics and collect and return vaccine to different bases.


We are looking for someone to work30hours over4 or5days per week, term time only(39/41 weeks). It is important that you can be available from 8am on some days to support the collection of vaccines, otherwise start time will befrom08:30. Core hours are between 08:30 and 16:30 andwe require someone who is flexible in their approach to their working pattern, which may include starting later if there is a later clinic being held on a certain day.


Please note all holidays must be taken within the school holidays.

• To work as a skilled team member to provide excellent standards of vaccinations and public health advice around vaccine preventable diseases to children, a young people, adults (up to the age of 25 in SEN schools) and their families across a variety of community settings.

• To assess and triage consent forms to ensure that children and young people are clinically able to receive the vaccinations they have consented to, in line with the National Patient Group Direction (PGD) or National Protocol (NP) for the vaccination programme, adapting communication to aid understanding.

• To undertake the Lead Vaccinator role with several schools across Berkshire, ensuring that sessions are planned and communicated to provide and safe and effective immunisation session.

• Todemonstrateability to make safe clinical decisions within an emergency e.g. anaphylaxis

• Manages own workload, co-ordinating and prioritising the school sessions/ clinics you lead on. Recognises his/her limitations and seeks advice and support from Team Leads.

• Maintains stock control to ensure adequate equipment to run clinics and administer vaccinations. Responsible for the safe collection,storageand transportation of vaccinations.

• Actively engages in health promotion, asrequiredto improve uptake in your designated schools.

• Plans follow up school and community sessions, in instances where uptake is low/ absentee rate is high.
