Are you a CAD Technician with an active interest in furniture design looking to join a leading business to launch your career in bespoke furniture and joinery design?
On offer is a fantastic opportunity for a CAD Technician / Project Coordinator to join a close-knit privately-owned company that specialises in premium-quality, custom-designed wooden lockers and changing room furniture for various sectors, including the leisure industry; schools, colleges & universities; offices & workplaces; healthcare; and sports clubs.
In this CAD Technician / Project Coordinator role, you will work closely with the experienced designers, developing CAD drawings and designs for bespoke furniture and joinery projects and contributing to projects from concept to completion. Our client currently works in 2D but will be looking to incorporate 3D visuals into project presentations, and would be keen to find someone who’s eager to grow their design skills as they evolve.
This role would suit a CAD Technician with some knowledge of timber, carpentry, joinery or similar, who is looking for a varied role, training, and the chance to work on a wide range of high-end projects. Our client is dedicated to nurturing talent and providing extensive training to help you grow in your career, and would be more interested in potential than “the finished article”.
What you’ll be doing as their Cad Technician / Project Coordinator
Once fully trained you get the opportunity to run with the full life cycle of the project. From enquiry, to design, through to overseeing installation ending with customer feedback.
A typical day as their Cad Technician / Project Coordinator will involve:
- Translating design briefs and intent drawings into high quality manufactural design solutions
- Creating detailed designs and accurate joinery drawings using 2D CAD for client approval and manufacture (moving to 3D in the near future)
- Problem solve any unforeseen issues with the design and the integration of various materials to achieve the desired finish of the customer
- Tracking and management of drawings and revisions issued
- Compiling cost quotations and evaluating materials required
- Provide input and support to the planning of projects and the development of technical solutions to meet project requirements
- Scheduling and management of installation teams

- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in 2D or 3D CAD
- A strong eye for design, aesthetics, and detail to ensure all CAD designs fit the brief provided by the customer
- Good understanding of plan drawing
- Ability to plan, and execute projects from concept to completion (once trained)
- Time management and organisational skills
- The ability to listen, ask questions and learn workflow plans
Salary & Benefits
- c£30-35k depending on experience
- 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays, plus birthday off

Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.00pm. 37.5 hours a week
