We are looking for a Principal Acoustic Consultant to join our Acoustics Team in London, Brighton, Birmingham or Manchester working within the Air Quality & Noise Team, which is a part of our wider UK Environment & Infrastructure Division.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be working within a multi-disciplinary environment with highly experienced and collaborative colleagues. There is a genuine ethos of ensuring a good work/life balance within this diverse and friendly team and you will be a key player in the success of the business unit and will be able to develop advanced expertise in one or more specialist areas of acoustics consultancy enhancing your skills and enabling you to develop and shape your career as you progress at RPS.

This is an interesting and varied role where you’ll liaise closely with clients, developing relationships to enhance business opportunities, preparing fee proposals and carrying out noise and vibration assessments.

Key aspects of the role include collating data, computer modelling, noise and vibration measurement, calculations and processing of results, interpretation of data, production of reports, drawings, figures and tables and producing acoustic design specifications. Other tasks will see you: managing projects within the agreed budgets and delivering a product of suitable quality within the agreed timescales including: invoicing; attending meetings, supporting Business Development; deputising when necessary, and providing technical reviews to a high standard.

Who we are looking for
You’ll already have solid experience of being at Senior/Principal level ideally. You’ll have a collaborative and consultative approach, be good at developing relationships and be confident and decisive. Ideally, you'll have been educated to degree level or equivalent within a relevant subject (MSc / MEng or BSc / BEng in Acoustics or Physics, AMIOA, Tech, MIOA)

You’ll be technically sound across the main environmental acoustics areas: noise and vibration assessment, noise and vibration monitoring and computer modelling techniques and always up to date with current methods, legislation, procedures and standards.

We'll need you to be numerically proficient and IT literate in mapping, acoustic modelling and, ideally, AutoCAD and have great analytical and problem-solving skills. Good financial and project management skills are a must as are strong influencing and communication skills to enable you to build, maintain and consolidate working relationships with colleagues, clients and external bodies.

There will be some travel involved so we'll need you to have full clean UK driving
