Summary


We have an exciting new opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join University Hospitals Dorset as part of ourWomen and Children’s (W&C) clinical pharmacy team.

You will be an important member of the W&C pharmacy team with a focus on not only developing your own career, but also the professional journey of our junior workforce.

You will join a supportive, welcoming clinical team who share a vision to continually develop the service and professional careers of its members with the ultimate goal of providing excellent patient care.

This role requires GPhC Registration.

Base location:Poole Hospital (Will work in Bournemouth site once reconfiguration completed)

The pharmacy department is highly regarded within the trust, and we are looking for an experienced pharmacist to join us in representing the pharmacy service and trust values. The pharmacy team's values are centred around patient care and medicines optimisation to ensure the best patient outcomes. As a pharmacist in this role, you will be embedded in the clinical team, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, attending ward rounds and playing an integral part in the patient care journey

This role will require one late finish per week, weekend shifts 1 in 5 (either Saturday or Sunday) and approximately one Bank Holiday shift per year. This role includes on-call duties, the roster is approximately 1 week in 9 weeks.

• Patient-Centred Care: Provide a patient-focused and clinically competent pharmacy service toinpatient paediatric, maternity and neonatal wards. This involves working directly with patients (and their parents/carers) and contributing to their care.
• Team Development: Work with and develop rotational pharmacists, technicians, and trainees within the directorate, including supporting their professional and clinical skills.
• Clinical Guidance and Practice: Contribute to the development of clinical guidance and ensure that pharmacy practices align with national guidelines. Implement cost-saving measures, develop and review patient group directions (PGDs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) where necessary.
• Integration and Collaboration: Integrate secondary care services within the broader NHS Dorset Healthcare system. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and contribute to the overall patient care strategy.
• Service Development: Play a role in the on-going development of pharmacy services within the directorate. Suggest improvements, streamline processes, and stay updated with best practices.
• Leadership and Mentorship: Act as a role model and pharmacy ambassador, and demonstrate leadership qualities. Mentor and line manage rotational pharmacists, helping them to develop their skills and knowledge.
