Summary
Job Description
Claims handlers are responsible for establishing liability and assessing quantum, acting in the council’s best interests at all times. They act to ensure the council is able to actively defend itself against claims and reject those without substance.
Post holders will provide guidance and support within a specialist area handling services for the Council’s insurance fund. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to protect the fund and preserve the reputation of the Council, the post holder will have delegated authority on claim decisions under £10K. This team of 15 receives over 2000 claims a year.
Roles and responsibilities include handling a caseload of insurance claims, relating to public liability and motor liability and liaising with external and internal parties as required.
