Summary

As a Firearms Enquiry Officer you will be part of a team, but mostly work as an individual, as the public facing arm of the Firearms Licencing Unit. You will engage with internal colleagues, partner agencies and the shooting community. You will have a strong investigative background and good communications skills that you will use to minimise risk to the public by conducting robust enquiries to support the effective control of licensed firearms, ammunition and explosives; ensuring public safety and full compliance with legislation. This will involve visits to applicant's premises where necessary to ensure appropriate and secure storage; interviews with applicants to determine suitability and making recommendations in firearms licensing matters. A working knowledge of UK firearms legislation and related Home Office guidance is key.
