Summary
Corporate and Delivery Directorate works closely with the Home Office’s policy and operational commands to enable us together to deliver the department’s priorities. The directorate is comprised of different teams and professional functions, including Commercial, Finance, People, Portfolio and Project Delivery, Security, Estates and Information and Digital, Data and Technology.

We have a role available in the Professional Services team which supports the whole of the Home Office to secure external resources and services such as Contingent Labour and consultancy services which partner with our teams to deliver key activities and programmes.
We are seeking a hard-working individual to work at HEO level to support the delivery of the Professional Service team which is undergoing a significant change programme, including the introduction of new automated ways of working and a move to a category management approach. This is an exciting time to join a team which is on a continuous improvement journey. The successful candidate will receive a programme of development with the opportunity to study towards professional commercial qualifications.
Working pattern
Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis. However, compressed hours are available.
Key responsibilities include:
• Taking ownership for supporting the business to secure value for money for contingent labour requirements.
• Support the sub-category lead to maintain a full audit trail for each requirement, embracing the continuous improvement programme including adapting to new ways of working such as automation of the request process.
• Develop understanding of the supply markets, categories and business context providing options and opportunities from a commercial perspective looking at aspects such as developing requirements, options analysis for routes to market, risks, benefits, and Social Value.
• Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external partners to ensure that requirements are on track, commercial risks are identified, and mitigations agreed.
• Support the development of a category management approach and data strategy to maximise value from significant spend on external resource across the Home Office.
• Acting as a contact for internal partners and external suppliers, supporting the management of the commercial and contractual relationship.
• Work with business partners and commercial business partners to procure services in a way which achieves value for money in accordance with procurement regulations, policy, and guidance and which contributes to savings opportunities where possible.
• Maintain awareness of developments in procurement policy and commercial case law.
