Summary

We are currently looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic memeber to welcome to our Trauma and Orthopaedics team. Our orthopaedic surgery includes paediatrics, arthroplasty and revision surgery, soft tissue knee, upper limb surgery and spinal surgery. Clinical - Core Assess, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate the peri-operative care of patients using specialist knowledge and skills. Acknowledge personal preferences, rights and choice of patients undergoing surgery. Maintain health, safety, and the control of infection in clinical work areas in line with Trust policies and procedures. Store, prepare and administer prescribed drugs to patients, and monitor the effects of drugs on patients in line with Trust policies. Prepare, monitor, and maintain materials and equipment for clinical procedures, take action if found to be faulty. Support, monitor and care for patients during clinical procedures. Contribute to treating patients during clinical emergencies. Receive, transfer and position patients for clinical procedures. Education and Coaching Continually develop own knowledge by evaluating and reflecting on practice. Maintain a professional profile. Create a learning environment in theatre. Act as an assessor/mentor/preceptor to members of staff. Teach others within the theatre area. Develop and evaluate learning materials. Ensure effective supervision and assessment of students within theatre. Act as a role model to the theatre team. Promote clinical supervision activity. Research/Governance Identify clinical practice problems and offer new ideas to improve standards of care in theatre. Undertake risk assessment in line with Trust policy. Participate in, utilise, and disseminate research to inform practice. Contribute to the development of clinical polices/procedures/guidelines/standards of care within the theatre department. Participate in Clinical Governance Activity: - Audit Activity - Data Collection Personal Demonstrate effective time management and organisational skills. Ensure all mandatory training required to undertake the role is up to date. Demonstrate people management skills - delegation, negotiation, and assertiveness. Be aware of own limitations and take advice as appropriate. Maintain personal hygiene and theatre dress code in line with theatre policies.
