Summary
To provide a high level of interpreting (3-way communication) skills between the Speech and Language Therapist and the child and young person (CYP) /family whose home language is not English. This includes assessment/therapy sessions with a variety of Health and Education professionals To work according to the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and Ealing Speech and Language Therapy Departments best practice guidelines when supporting CYP/families whose home language is not Englis To engage in supervision and support from a qualified speech and language therapis To assist in assessing CYPs strengths and needs in their home language under the supervision of a Speech and Language Therapist and to give verbal and written feedback to the therapist To translate written advice and information materials in the CYPs home language using appropriate technology To advise the Speech and Language Therapy team regarding cultural and linguistic issues which may impact on families/communities accessing and receiving an equitable service from Ealing Speech and Language Therapy To work with the Speech and Language Therapy team to promote and raise awareness of the service amongst community groups To support and participate in the induction and training of new co-workers The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users.
