Our Mental Health and Learning Disability and Autism services are seeking a safeguarding expert to join our management team. The people we support are more likely to experience abuse and neglect than other members of the community. We want to ensure that our safeguarding practice is Outstanding, and the ACS signs of safety model is embedded in all teams.
The professional advisor for safeguarding is a key role in our Independent Lives, practice transformation plan and will work across both service areas leading a combination of service improvement projects and some complex casework guidance and mentoring.
Your role and responsibilities
In this position, you will have the responsibility for supporting and advising on the quality of safeguarding practice across Mental Health and Learning Disability/Autism services, providing professional support and guidance, while engaging directly with people with care and support needs, their families, carers, and wider networks.
You will develop and sustain partnership arrangements with stakeholders within and across organisations, ensuring that the services deliver best practice, particularly in the context of multi-agency safeguarding and risk management. You will contribute to the development and delivery of multi-agency safeguarding arrangements and the services risk registers. You will lead on the completion thematic audits, lessons learnt reports, multi-agency case reviews and the delivery of actions plans from the learning. You will use feedback and data to evaluate, measure and report on progress and impact of quality assurance activity on practice and people’s lives.
You will need
- A Social Work qualification recognised by Social Work England
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Ability to adopt a collaborative approach through effective partnership working
- Committed to listening to people and families and to working collaboratively with them to address concerns
- Comprehensive understanding of legislation, guidance, and national policy framework relevant to social care
- Ability to confidently present and deliver information in verbal and written formats.
- A passion for improving the lives of people of Suffolk
- A passion for relationship and strengths-based practice, with an emphasis on quality, professional growth for staff and growth for people we support
- A DBS check will be undertaken for the successful candidate.

Multi-agency Safeguarding and risk assessment and management is a core activity for all the teams. Suffolk's County Council AMHP service is embedded within the MH service
