Summary


We are looking for an experienced Clinical Technologist / Healthcare Science Practitioner (Radiation Physics) to lead our friendly team of technologists and apprentice technologists withinRadiation Science Services at UHBW.

You will be joining a dynamic team of healthcare scientists, technologists and trainees, whoprovide diagnostic radiation imaging, and radiation and laser protection services to departments withinUHBW and to external customers in the region. The team work with a full range of imaging equipment including mobiles, dental, DR rooms, CT, mammography and interventional imaging rooms.

The post holder will be leading a team of five staff, so is expected to have experience in supervising, managing or mentoring staff.

This job is being offered on a part time basis at 0.8 WTE.



Responsibilities will include
• Acting as an operator under the definitions of the IR(ME)R regulations in accordance with Trust policies and Practices.
• Organising and participating in the programme of radiation protection and quality assurance measurements on radiographic and fluoroscopic x-ray equipment.
• Line-managing named Clinical Technologists, trainees / apprentices and organising their workload as required.
• Participating in the measurement and assessment of patient, staff and environmental radiation doses.
• Being an authorised purchaser for the group and placing orders for items as required for the running of the activities performed by the group.
• Arranging external calibration and maintenance of departmental radiation measurement equipment and radiation dose rate meters
• Ensuring adequate maintenance or service contracts are in place for specialised equipment
• Training and supervising trainee clinical scientists and technologists
• Instigating and participating in audits, and write and review SOPs as required
