The role:
As an Office Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll work with the administration management team to help develop the careers of the administration teams and apprentices. This is a challenging but also a rewarding role.

Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for the management of the executive suite providing mentoring and guidance to the administration team.

This will include:

  • Establishing and implementing an admin Hub to ensure resources are used effectively, to support all demands from the business, various projects and their teams.
  • Diary management for the Directors and senior leadership teams, as well as minute taking at senior leadership meetings, distributing in a timely manner and ensuring all actions are tracked and recorded
  • Management of the administration team delegating work as and when required to meet the demands of the business.
  • Leading the recruitment process for all gapped posts for the Hub, as well as being responsible for all Personal Development Reports (PDR) for direct reports and identifying any additional training.
  • Mentoring new members of staff and apprentices, providing support to the apprentices at project meetings and attend careers fairs to promote the apprenticeship scheme.


This role is full time, 35 hours per week is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Office Manager

  • Strong leadership skills with experience of managing/supervising and coaching/mentoring a team.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding guidelines - Desirable.
  • Experience of recruitment and selection of candidates.
  • Effective decision making/problem solving skills.
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills.


Qualifications for the Office Manager

  • GCSE in English and Maths at Grade C or equivalent.
  • NVQ L3 in Business and Administration or equivalent discipline.
  • Supervisory/Management qualification or equivalent - Desirable.


Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
