Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Anaesthetist with interest in General Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine, at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Applicants with a specialty interest or experience in perioperative medicine are particularly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidates will join an expanding, innovative and dynamic department of 85 Consultants, 50 Trainees/Clinical Fellows and 16 Senior Clinical Fellows, providing anaesthetic services in this thriving, modern teaching hospital.

You will be fully registered with the GMC and have a CCT in Anaesthesia or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview or have submitted paperwork for Specialist Registration via CESR. As part of our commitment to supporting the medical workforce in the part they play in delivering an excellent caring service to patients, all newly appointed Consultants attend our five-day Consultant Development programme within a year of joining the Trust. Leadership is a key requirement of doctors’ professional work and this innovative programme is designed to support Consultants to hone the leadership and management skills they need to succeed at CUH.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

The successful candidate will join a growing team of Anaesthetists who support a large range of services within this large tertiary hospital. The cases you are likely to encounter as a locum consultant span a diverse range including major general, oncology, trauma & orthopaedics, vascular, urology, gynaecology and ENT.
