Summary


A new and exciting opportunity for a Tobacco Dependency advisor to be based at Colchester Hospital, Essex supporting patients attending A&E under the COSTED Pilot Programme. The role will require supporting patients with stop smoking support and treatment at the Colchester Hospital site.

Internal candidates will be offered a secondment opportunity.

To engage with patients in the acute setting to provide Smoking Cessation advice and support, along with recommendations for NRT where required

Apply behaviour change techniques to support complex individual lifestyle changes, e.g goals setting, confidence building

Provide evidence based about a key public health agenda

Eligible for NHS Pension

To engage with inpatients in the acute setting to provide Smoking Cessation advice and support, along with recommendations for NRT where required

To engage with individuals to improve their lifestyle and self-management capacity

Apply behaviour change techniques to support complex individual lifestyle changes, e.g goals setting, confidence building

Provide evidence based about a key public health agenda

Ensure referral to EWS following discharge from the acute setting to enhance and sustain the outcome of the interventions

To ensure strong partnership working with acute hospital staff in relationship to the management of smoking cessation within the hospital

To independently undertake assessments and recommend suitable interventions related to smoking cessation

To manage caseloads efficiently, taking the lead with complex cases and delegating routine work to the Tobacco Dependency Advisor where appropriate

Contribute to and work as part of a team, both internally and externally
