Summary

At Rydon we are proud to support Apprenticeships and we are currently seeking to recruit a Property Maintenance Trainee Operatives in Surrey. We offer a variety of job roles and different levels throughout the group. We will support you whether you are at the start of your career or helping you to progress to a higher level.

Rydon provides a range of expert maintenance services to domestic property and commercial buildings in the social housing, health and social care sectors. We look after over 35,000 homes for registered providers and several hundred buildings across 20 NHS Trusts throughout the country. We ensure properties are well maintained, efficient and fit for purpose, using the latest technology to ensure repairs are completed promptly.

Job Purpose

We are currently seeking to recruit a Property Maintenance Trainee to work on a contract we have with the South East Coast Ambulance Service in Surrey. We provide responsive day to day repairs and planned maintenance services across ambulance stations, make ready centres and community out post centres. Please note as there is travel involved a full UK driving licence is required. We have an office in Epsom but you will not be office based and will be learning on the job with a member of the team. The College is located in Redhill.

So how does the apprenticeship scheme work?

As an Apprentice Property Maintenance Operative you will learn all about what it takes to make sure properties are maintained to a high and safe standard. You will be assigned a mentor, who will work with you to develop your on the job experience. You will work directly within one of our teams, learning Rydon's approach to property maintenance. At the same time, you will study part time (usually on a day release to college basis) and your mentor will support you in your college/further education through providing advice practical tips to help you succeed in attaining an industry recognised qualification and a long term career at Rydon.

You will learn a wide range of trade skills such as Carpentry, Plumbing, Plastering, Tiling, Decorating, minor Electrical work and appropriate health and safety training. Along the way you will develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours you will need to carry out general maintenance, provide excellent customer service, to working with external contractors and providing first response to fault finding.

At the end of the Apprenticeship, you will gain a Level 2 accreditation as a Property Maintenance Operative. Additionally, you may then have the opportunity to continue your learning and specialise in a further relevant trade qualification. The course is for 24 months.

Experience Required

To be considered for this exciting opportunity;

You will need to have a minimum of GCSE (grade C / Level 2 or above) in Maths and English. Candidates without this will still be considered but will need to pass a functional skills test in maths and English to be abe to complete the apprenticeship.
You will need to have a full UK driving licence.

In addition you'll need to be inquisitive by nature, be confident and happy to work with lots of different people and be looking for a long term career in property maintenance.
