We have an exciting opportunity at North Bristol Trust for a talented person to join our Workforce Planning and Analytics team on a fixed term appointment for 12 months (maternity cover) – perfect for those with an interest in this area already or for those who want to broaden their skill set!



The successful candidate will be working in partnership with the data warehouse, business intelligence other corporate teams to develop accurate and insightful analysis meet the reporting needs of the organisation. Working in partnership with the Head of Workforce Planning and Analytics and the Assistant Director for Workforce Planning, People Systems and Data, the successful candidate will also work with colleagues in clinical and non-clinical teams to provide data and an analysis that underpins workforce planning and performance to ensure we have the right people, with the right skills, in the right place at the right time to deliver an outstanding patient experience.

The post holder will be a senior member of the Workforce Planning and Analytics Team. The post holder will be assigned to provide informatics services to clinical, operational, and corporate areas in the Trust, servicing the needs of these key stakeholders and information users.



The role is customer orientated with strong links to operational and decision making areas within the Trust. The post holder will provide a critical function supporting the development of transformation of data into information. From assisting in projects to supporting with ad hoc queries, the post holder will be part of how the organisation will mature.

This post requires specialist technical knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Products, MS SQL and other relevant Business Intelligence technologies in order to provide the analytical function.

As part of the role the post holder will also be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing expertise for the Trust in key knowledge areas of the Hospital function, whether this will be clinical, operational, financial, or corporate.

As an SME the post holder will be the lead informatics specialist with in depth knowledge in these reporting areas, which might include associated knowledge of: national guidelines for reporting, NHS data dictionary definitions, local operational and data nuances, information flows and detailed understanding of Trust applications or systems.

It is an exciting time to work here at NHS North Bristol Trust (NBT), which has been undergoing significant changes over the few years in theBusiness Intelligence and Workforce Planning and Analytics departments, with a shift in how we deliver high quality reporting and intelligence to the wider Trust though interactive self-service reporting in Power BI.



Under the direction of the Head of Workforce Planning and Analytics, the post holder will be customer focussed supporting key Executives, management teams and both clinical and non-clinical staff by creating or tailoring reporting solutions to meets their business requirements and to improve the standards of reporting and information, and to highlight issues impacting data quality.



They will also assist in coaching stakeholders and users in the analysis and interpretation of the information, and how to use it to guide their decision making, in addition to advising on performance and to highlight issues impacting the quality of their data.



As a member of the information team the post holder will be expected to take part in all training offered and to continue developing Acute Trust NHS knowledge, NHS data knowledge, statistical skills, internal and external reporting expertise, and subject matter expertise (SME), and skill-based training (e.g. SQL, and other BI reporting tools and reporting languages).



Key aspects of the Senior Analyst role are to:



· Provide general information support and analysis expertise, as required and requested.

· Provide expert assistance in the production of all workforce information, such as statutory/mandatory returns, Trust and service delivery plans

· Play an active role in the monitoring and improvement of performance within the organisation. This involves analysing, investigating and resolving complex queries

· Actively support the delivery of high-quality information.

· Produce business, performance and other information and analysis for divisions within the Trust and be a key “virtual member” of the team.

· Take responsibility for the provision of cross-division information analysis as required

· The provision of accurate and timely information to satisfy both internal operational and corporate reporting requirements

· Analyse and deliver ad-hoc reporting requests and assist in the delivery of these as standard outputs where required

· Act as mentor to less experienced members of the People Systems, Information and Planning team

· Provide support and cross coverage for other members of the team

· To take direction and lead in delivering key information requirements, both internal and external
