Summary

KEY DUTIES Supporting the induction of new registrants including those recruited through return to practice and the internationally recruited workforce. Developing the quality of the learning environment for newly appointed registrants, determining interventions necessary to support those staff meet the required learning outcomes. Support the development of clinical practice supervision and support structures for Preceptors and mentors. Undertaking Quality Assurance visits across the organisation in relation to the workplace development of new registrants. Support the development, co-coordination, evaluation and implementation of education programs for the Preceptees, including preceptorship induction and ongoing study sessions. Work with managers/service leads of new registrants within the Trust, to identify any additional support requirements including pastoral support and work with these leads/mentors to create personal development plans related to the role of the appointee and agree deadlines for completion as and when required. Work in partnership with Higher Education partners. For example, contributing to curriculum development, validation and review to meet the continuing development needs of qualified and unqualified non-medical clinical staff. CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Support the structure, design and facilitate the delivery of learning opportunities for new registrants and other staff groups who are new to the Trust. Produce and maintain a portfolio of education in practice activity within service area(s). For example, structured professional learning activities, teaching packages Support the development, implementation and review of education in practice learning environments for new registrants. Act as an expert resource/ Champion of Learning in practice, supporting managers to ensure the delivery of a high-quality learning experience for staff appropriate to their role. Ensure communication channels are used appropriately to facilitate the flow of information between internal and external partners. Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times in conjunction with organisational policies. Collaborate with service managers to ensure academic rigor in practice learning is maintained; learning outcomes can be met and are aligned with Service need and reconfigurations. Continuously monitor practice learning activities against quality assurance standards enabling on-going enhancement of the learning experience for newly appointed staff. ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare and support managers in the delivery of practice-based education action plans for new registrants. Keep up to date in research and development relevant to education in practice and the clinical learning environment. Develop and maintain up to date and accurate records and live registers of those staff undertaking development in the practice setting as part of the Preceptorship, and other programmes described in this job description. Develop a process to inform and enable shared evidence and format to enhance the responsiveness and delivery of a single Quality Assurance process. Monitor numbers of new registrants who require additional support, and student complaints to highlight trends and inform action planning. Liaise with the Clinical Education Support Team Nurse Lead, Ward Managers and Education Links to develop appropriate action plans to support these staff. Provide pastoral support to new registrants. Liaise with Information Service departments within Placement Providers, including Library Services, to inform resource requirements and widen access to facilities. TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES Evaluate the effectiveness of any practice learning experience for new registrants, recommending any changes and improvements. Work with colleagues in the wider clinical education team to develop innovative educational opportunities to support non-medical clinical recruits in areas such as simulation and multi-professional learning. Collaborate with service managers to align placement learning and operational experience to learning outcomes. Network locally, regionally and nationally with peer group to support the sharing of best practice. Work closely with the wider clinical education team to ensure classroom-based learning is aligned to placement learning.
