Bank Community Podiatrist – Band 5

The Community Podiatry Service prides itself on an integrated approach to support our patients and colleagues. Working within the integrated service will allow you the opportunity to work closely with our community nursing teams.

As a Community Podiatrist,You will work as part of the integrated podiatry team, providing care in accordance with service criteria which will include working independently in clinics, hospitals, GP practices and domiciliary settings, providing high quality clinical care in accordance with NICE Guidance.

Our Trust Bank (Internal Temporary workforce) offer hours ‘as and when required’ or when you want to work however, please be advised thatavailability for roles vary depending on demand and no role is guaranteed.

As the post holder you will assess, diagnose, develop and implement individual treatment plans for patients with a wide variety of clinical needs. Most commonly, care will be provided for patients at risk, who suffer from metabolic, vascular or neurological disorders e.g. diabetes compromising the integrity of the lower limb.

You will have highly developed physical skills, precision hand/eye coordination for prolonged periods and as required when carrying out surgical techniques and specialist debridement.

You will also be responsible for the referral of patients who require the intervention of other professionals and other departmental specialist areas by following agreed departmental referral pathways e.g. into the acute podiatry service or to podiatric surgery

You will be supporting patients with complex needs within their own home and there will be a requirement to complete a competencies framework which will include additional tasks such as providing insulin injections and lower leg compression.
