NHS England leads the NHS in England to deliver high quality care for all. We support NHS organisations to deliver better outcomes for our patients and communities, work to get the best possible value for taxpayers, and drive improvement across the NHS.

Through our seven regional teams, NHS England supports local integrated care systems, made up of public services that provide health and care – NHS organisations, primary care professionals, local councils, social care providers and the community, voluntary and social enterprise sector – to improve the health of the population, improve the quality of care, tackle inequalities and deliver care more efficiently.

From April 2023, NHS England, Health Education England and NHS Digital became one single organisation, putting workforce, data, digital and technology at the heart of our plans to transform the NHS.

As Head of Digital Transformation for Greater Lancashire & South Cumbria the post holder will work as part of a dynamic regional team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the North West area to provide digital transformation strategic leadership and vision to support local transformation programmes, particularly in Primary Care.

The post holder will lead the provision of an efficient, effective and high quality professional and well-co-ordinated Digital Transformation service capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements ensuring alignment with the activity of the organisation.

An important aspect of the role is about managing the interface with a range of stakeholders such as NHS England regional and national teams, Integrated Care System, Ambulance Trusts. The post-holder is expected to be able to engage confidently with and provide regular briefings for senior stakeholders.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker routeyou’llusually need to be paid the ‘standard’ salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the ‘going rate’ for your job, whichever is higher. Co-ordinate capital budgets for Primary Care IT and provide assurance for capital bids through various programmes and ultimate delivery or programme objectives where funded through NHS England.

Join, contribute to and represent NHS England at local digital transformation governance organisations across the regional team

Coordinate delivery of national digital transformation and information programmes across the regional team working closely with digital partners in IBCs, CSUs and NHS England at local, regional and national levels.

Support the local system to develop, implement and assure delivery of Digital Transformation Programmes.

Ensure GPIT responsibilities are delivered locally. This means ensuring that contracts are in place with CSUs / other providers for services that are the responsibility of the regional team.

Provide oversight of programme budgets.

Work with local IG leads to ensure that services are in place to support GP Practices as per IG service specification
