Summary

Provide Registrar level day to day care for Acute Oncology admission, together with AOS NPs. Attend Medical Oncology Educational Seminars and lunch on Fridays. Participate in the Outreach covering of Day unit in emergency, for Day unit in set SOPs. Support the Acute Oncology Nurse Practitioners to complete teams goals for patients. Acute Oncology shifts are 8 hours and run between service hours currently 8am and 6pm. Complete all admission compliance for patients in the Acute Oncology Service that will be admitted to the CHOC wards. Participation in Audits for Acute Admission or new Policy changes. Provision of clinical support to oncology Day procedures such as Ascites Drain, or Chest drains. Co-ordinate and implement specialist care for patients with a new diagnosis of cancer or complications of cancer, initiate rapid referral to relevant oncology sub-site team and/or palliative care team. Supervise and assist Acute Oncology Team Triage New presentation of Cancer unknown primary to CUP team. Participate in GP Calls for advice. Ensure training compliance and clinical responsibilities are adhered to Management and Leadership roles through participation in Chemotherapy Governance Group, Research Trial Protocol meetings, monthly Mortality/ Morbidity meetings Audit and Clinical Governance Undergo regular appraisal throughout the post Attend Trust educational and departmental meetings. Demonstrate awareness of national and local guidelines relating to specialty (e.g. NICE guidelines) and influence care developments in accordance with these. Identify, contribute to or lead on aspects in the development and dissemination of evidence-based guidelines, standards and protocols as required and implement change to improve the quality of patient care. Attend local, regional and national networks/meetings Present at seminars/conferences/meetings.
