Summary

Specialist Autism Support Officer

Bridgend CF32

Pay £12.90- per hour or £83.85 per day

We are working closely with a school in Bridgend that supports pupils that are aged 7 to 19 years old with complex Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD) including Autism alongside specific learning difficulties and other additional learning needs. The role can be both full and part time due to different pupils having hours that need to be supported so hours can be flexible. We will require full reliability from the ideal candidate as a change in schedule for the pupils can be detrimental to pupils' development within schools.

Experience with autism whether this is personal or professional is a requirement in the role, a positive attitude and ability to build rapport with both pupils and staff members within the school is vital. Any additional training courses such as manual handling and first aid are advantageous, and will may open doors for new opportunities within the school. Throughout the vetting process we will require candidates to be timely and have the correct documents ready to ensure onboarding can be as efficient as possible.

Responsibilities:
- Ensuring pupils are engaging in all sessions.
- Assist in personal care tasks as an when if needed
- To plan and implement appropriate techniques to deal with challenging behaviour in pupils where appropriate.
- To take part in relevant training and courses as required.

Requirements and qualifications
- Enhanced DBS and registration with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
- Understands the development needs of children and those with disability/challenging behaviour.
