Summary

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Minimum Level 2

Location: Abergavenny

Start Date: October 21st - for the full academic year.

Pay Rate: £85-£100 Per day.

Hours: 8.30am - 3pm.

Teaching Personnel are happy to be working with a well-known secondary school in Abergavenny. The students are aged between 11-18. We are currently seeking a unique individual to join the school as a Trainee Teaching Assistant.

As a Teaching Assistant you may be supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN). This may include but not limited to helping children with ASD, ADHD and SEMH.

In this role you will also be working 1:1 with a year 7 pupil who presents challenging behaviour. You will need to use different strategies to help the pupil progress and stay interested in school. Some interventions used are sports such as Rugby, football, tennis and basketball.

If you have a sporting background and previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, this could be the perfect role for you.

Role and Responsibilities:
- Assisting the class teacher in planning, delivering, and evaluating lessons, ensuring strategies are tailored to individual student needs.
- Providing support to students with additional learning needs, both in groups and on a one-to-one basis, promoting inclusivity within the classroom.
- Preparing and delivering intervention sessions, tailored towards addressing specific learning gaps or targeting accelerated progress.
- Collaborating with colleagues to support the implementation of effective teaching strategies and behaviour management techniques.
- Assisting with the coordination and administration of assessments, ensuring accurate recording and reporting of student progress.
- Actively engaging in professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in line with school requirements.

The Successful Candidate will have:
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 or Higher.
- Proven experience in supporting teaching and learning at primary or secondary level.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the national curriculum.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- A proactive approach to promoting inclusive education and addressing the needs of diverse learners.

A patient, nurturing, and positive attitude towards students, supporting their emotional well-being as well as their academic progress.

Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS clearance, registered on the update service (or willingness to apply).
- EWC registration (or willingness to apply).
- Ability to provide 2 recent references.
- Right to work in the UK, ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
- Safeguarding Level 2 (provided free of charge by Teaching Personnel)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
