Summary


An exciting opportunity to be part of a team in a varied role that provides support and provision/receipt & distribution of sterile surgical instruments to theatres and clinical areas. The successful candidate will also be a point of contact & support and perform supervisory duties to the Sterile Services Assistants as well as supporting the Instrument Manager.

The successful candidate will also work closely with the Trust's sterile services provider, maintaining high quality service delivery to clinical areas.

The successful candidate will have a positive and proactive mindset, with desire and determination for problem solving and troubleshooting whilst also having strong customer service skills.

The successful candidate will be excited by supporting/delivering service improvements and change.

Cross site working at other WTWA Hospitals [Wythenshawe, Trafford, Withington, Altrincham] may be necessary.

• To supervise, teach and be a point of contact for Sterile Services Assistants and any other staff members to ensure the quality of service is maintained to the agreed, directed high standards.
• Maintain strict separation for clean / soiled / used items within the hub. Ensure general tidiness and presentation within the department is maintained.
• Ensure the users follow the service contract conditions regarding return of used items.
• Collect / deliver instrument sets and supplementary items to / from theatre areas / outliers and store in appropriate holding area within the hub / ward areas.
• Provide advice and instruction to all Trust staff regarding instrument delivery / turnaround times, quality issues and repairs.
• Receive / relay / monitor information from and to service provider / staff, regarding service / fast track and defects to ensure maintenance of a cost effective service.
• Ensure deliveries to outlying areas are maintained daily.
• Proactively monitor and identify and take action regarding potential detrimental deficits within the continuity of service.
• Investigate service reports to/from sterile service provider liaising with clinical staff and sterile service provider to resolve issues concerning missing or damaged instrumentation etc.
• Repatriate instrumentation to instrument trays.
• Direct and assist with inventory management of surgical instruments.
