Summary


The post holder will play a leading role in the Trust's internal communications and engagement through a planned programme of activity with staff and key partners.

Working as a business partner to our Adults services, the role will lead on developing stories, insight and reflections on the experiences of patients and colleagues we work with, and raise the profile of the Trust's services.

The post holder will also be responsible for supporting the Communications Officer and developing best practice within the Communications team.

A full driving licence, and use of a car for business use, is required as the post holder will need to travel to different sites, working with patients, staff, the media, stakeholders and partners.
• Responsibility for internal communications and engagement, informing staff engagement, recruitment and retention.
• Supporting the work of the Trust to help reduce health inequalities and support the achievement of the Trust’s strategic aims, working as a business partner to our Adult Services.
• Support the Communications Officer
• Supporting the development and delivery of the Trust’s internal communications and engagement strategy. This includes designing and continually improving internal products and channels, staff engagement, key staff campaigns and two-way engagement. Support external communications. Skills in creative writing and editing, design and producing multi-media materials for a range of channels are essential.
• Creating and publishing website and intranet content and helping with the ongoing development of our website and intranet.
• Fostering good relationships with senior managers, colleagues, stakeholders and other NHS colleagues in complex environments.
• Facilitating two-way communications with staff and senior leaders.
• Helping improve the Trust’s communication policies and processes to improve our branding and protect the Trust’s reputation.
• Project managing external agencies delivering communications services, ensuring successful outcomes and value for money
• Designing, organising and promoting internal events
• Ensuring the Trust’s online and offline communication materials comply with national NHS identity guidelines.

This is a key role that helps translate communications strategy and planning into action that will see real and lasting changes in awareness and understanding of HCT, the services we provide and the positive impact we have.

The postholder will help:

· Enhance and promote understanding of the purpose, work, and achievements of HCT primarily internally with staff and senior leaders, and externally with the public and stakeholders.

· Contribute to developing a programme of internal communications to enhance the reputation of the Trust.

· Support Board and senior managers to work with staff and stakeholders to create a positive environment for the development of community services.

· Support the work of engaging staff, patients, and members of the communities we serve in the organisation’s development.

Strategic management

As a key member of the Communications and Engagement team, the postholder will contribute to the strategic development of the communications function. This includes leadership on communications issues, monitoring, evaluation, and learning about diverse communications. Help to forward plan communications and engagement activity.

Service development and improvement

The postholder will need to demonstrate and develop examples of continuous improvement and innovation using an evidence-based approach to communications and obtaining feedback to use that learning in future projects.

Management and leadership

The postholder is expected to support other members of the team and share their own skills and experience to drive performance and quality. They must develop and manage good relationships with the media, senior managers, and other NHS colleagues.

Communication and relationship building

The postholder must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, to inspire confidence and support at all levels both internally and externally. The postholder will develop and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders and audiences and be able to take complex information and quickly translate it into key messages for different audiences.

Finance and resource management

The postholder must be able to manage numerous projects simultaneously, with a good grasp of project management methodology. Experience in managing and setting budgets is desirable as the postholder maybe an authorised signatory, signing off expenditure and media campaigns.
