Summary
Avantor is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Lab Technician to join our team based in Macclesfield. In this role, you’ll provide laboratory support with day-to-day responsibilities such as decontamination of lab equipment, glass washing, and general cleaning.
Previous experience in a scientific or laboratory environment, and/or a scientific degree is not a requirement for this role! Applicants from other industries will be considered, as full training is provided.

This role will be a full-time, permanent position. The role delivers the key lab support services to our customers, which allows them to focus on the science and progress their projects. The role will typically include stock and waste management, equipment support services, and standard laboratory tasks aligned to those laboratories. Working hours: Monday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm
The team
Working in a team of six Laboratory Technicians, you will support laboratory operations. You will belong to our business department Lab and Production Services, which supports leading pharmaceutical companies and laboratories globally in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.
What we’re looking for?
Education: GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent) and an interest in science
Experience: previous experience in a pharmaceutical/food customer service environment is desirable but not essential as full training is provided
Preferred skills:
Proficient with MS Office package
Ability to understand and follow Health & Safety instructions
How you will thrive and create an impact?
Work in a team to organise support for scientists and make sure they have all they need, to perform their daily tasks (consumables, solvents, equipment, PPE)
Maintain, organise, and replenish laboratory inventories.
Laboratory housekeeping – glassware wash and dry, waste management and cleaning activities, decontamination of laboratory equipment
Act as a Point of Contact for customers, actively engaging with them regularly to understand their business requirements
