Summary


Medical Secretary (Colposcopy Pathways)
Delivering Efficient and Responsive Support for Optimal Patient Care

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Secretary to support our Consultants and their medical teams, ensuring an efficient and responsive service that meets both patient needs and Trust requirements. This role also includes providing cover for the Senior Medical Secretary as needed.

This is a key role in ensuring that patients receive the care they need in a timely and efficient manner. If you are organised, proactive, and have strong communication skills, we would love to hear from you!

**Please note cross site working will be required**
• Manage Colposcopy Pathways:Oversee patient tracking, monitoring reports, and ensuring timely progression through the care pathway while meeting targets.
• Patient and GP Enquiries:Handle daily telephone inquiries from patients and GPs in a professional and helpful manner, offering basic medical advice within written protocols, and referring to the Nurse Colposcopist or Consultant Colposcopist as required.
• Cytology and Histology Results:Communicate normal results to patients, as signed off by Nurse Colposcopists or Consultant Colposcopists, and coordinate with labs and medical teams to ensure all results are processed and actioned efficiently.
• Typing and Documentation:Ensure all result letters are typed within target timelines, and escalate potential delays or breaches.
• Patient Pathway Navigation:Facilitate patient care from referral to treatment, adhering to agreed pathway steps and timelines using hospital IT systems. Proactively schedule appointments in line with the pathway.
• Colposcopy MDT Coordination:Provide administrative support to the Colposcopy Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), assisting in preparation of patient lists, gathering information from clinical specialists, and ensuring all team members are informed of meeting schedules and changes.
