Job objectives and responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Operations manager at Dp World London Gateway to assit the Operations manager to help lead and manage the security operations at the Port .
For the individual to be successful in this role they will need to bring experience of assisting in managing a team, they will be an exciting and inspirational leader able to communicate and build effective and trusted relationships with the staff that they are managing and need to be able to deal with any issues as they arise, and be abale to deal with a number of different things at the same time.
· Ensuring the smooth and efficient management of the port estate
· Build a good working relationships with security agencies, transport police DFT and the client and port operatives.
· Bring proven and deep expertise in managing security across multi and complex sites
· To help lead the London Gateway Port and Mitie to bring innovation and technology solutions to the contract and is used to maximise security operations at all sites
· To take the lead and develop the operational security teams to be committed and enthusiastic to deliver best in class security
· To deliver and organise the development and training of security teams so that security, safety and customer services is paramount in everything they do whilst operating on behalf of DP World.
Job Specifics
-To Assist in the day to day management of a large security guard force within a highly regulated port related environment; to the requirements of the Maritime Security & Resilience Division (MSRD) of the Department for Transport and the ISO 28000 security management system
-Assisting the Operations Manager in Producing and reviewing risk assessments
-Responsible for Ensuring continual improvement in all staff
-Reviewing customer requirements and implementing improvement;
-Responsible for ensuring that all security staff have an appropriate understanding of port security and policies, giving advice and instruction as necessary;
-Producing and delivering safety and security awareness training with the support of the Operationns maanger
-Carrying out security drills and inspections, preparing reports and holding debriefing sessions and reporting back to the Operations manager and client
-Asssiting the Operatiosmanager in making sure pay and invoicing is accurate and correct
-Maintaing the working schedule and making sure all gaps are covered to meet kpi requirements.
-Ensuring all offciers are compliant to the international ship and port facility secury code (ISPS)
-Ensuring compliance to the terminals port facility security plan (PFSP)
-Asssiting in setting performance expectations and providing performance feedback,
-recommending and implementing awards,
-Responsible for identifying and implementing training needs,
-Providing constructive feedback to officers
-Assiting in the recruitment of new staff
-Responsible for coaching and development to develop an effective team.
-Creating a positive and inclusive culture where people feel great to come to work
-Communicating plans to key internal stakeholders alongside the operations manager
-Influencing and bring people with you to successfully implement change.

Person Specification
To demonstrate expertise in leadership role in a regulated aviation, maritime or land transport related environment, with demonstrable leadership and people management skills in Security leadership roles, preferably with experience of other .
To demonstrate detailed knowledge and understanding of operational practices, procedures and the statutory documents which govern security requirements in the transport sector plus an understanding of the risks transport security is posed with.
The successful candidates will have proven experience of Managing and leading teams in a customer-facing environment.. Candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills with a sense of urgency, ability to absorb various technical data, prioritise and to make sound decisions based on the information learnt.
Be able to communicate with all members of staff and ensure they all follow company procedures and policies.
