Location: Bradford

Salary: circa £28,000 (depending on experience)

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm

The role...

As a Transport Planner you will plan the vehicle fleet to ensure maximum efficiencies and make sure customers goods are delivered in a timely manner and in line with the requirements of the sales and management team. To ensure that loads are planned in line with the varying and changing needs of the business.

Responsibilities...

- To plan and allocate routes and vehicles ensuring enough flexibility is in place to meet the varying and changing needs of customers.
- To work to increase fleet utilisation and maximise profitability of delivery routes and where required establish and implement operational improvements.
- To liaise with the relevant parties in regards to the maintenance of fleet vehicles to ensure loads are planned on available vehicles and trailers only.
- To liaise with the Transport Manager regarding the day to day hours of our drivers and driver holidays to make sure routes are planned accordingly.
- To work with other departments of the company (production, sales, and so on) to ensure we give an outstanding service to our customers.
- Ensure all routing adheres to relevant health and safety and road traffic legislation.
- Assist with the management of key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of the planning function.
- Processing and analysing data.
- Monitoring the vehicle tracking system regarding ETAs, return times and employee performance.
- Adhoc administration duties as required.
- To work in a safe and effective manner always and comply with company health and safety rules
- To participate with the quality and environmental practices in the workplace and continually look to improve to reduce our carbon footprint.
- Any other duties as directed by the Transport Manager.

Person specification...

- An understanding of commercial vehicle legislation
- A minimum of 1 years experience of working within a simliar role
- Computer literate
- Experience of load planning and scheduling
- A good understanding of UK geography
- An excellent understanding of load planning software
