About the
service user
Emily is a young confident woman about to embark on an exciting
new chapter in her life, attending university, where she will be
studying Dietetics.
Emily lives with rare form of progressive Ataxia (Friedrichs Ataxia)
affecting the nervous system and impacting mobility.
Emily enjoys baking, shopping, going to the gym, going out for food
& drinks, theatre & cinema.
Hours and rate
of Pay Up to 15 hours per week pattern to be discussed as it will be
around university timetable.
Pay up to £16 per hour
Enhanced DBS clearance is essential
What you
would be
doing
Supporting Emily as needed with accessing the local community or
events within the university while she gets involved with student life.
Supporting Emily with some domestic things such as changing/
remaking the bed, accessing the launderette, support to keep the
living environment clean & tidy and putting away online shopping
deliveries.
While Emily strives to be independent in the things she does,
sometimes assistance with household tasks will be required.
Emily is independent and does not need help with personal hygiene.
The person I
would like Emily is looking for someone who is vibrant, motivated, kind and has
a bubbly personality.
One of Emilys many strengths is her independence, it is important
you are someone who will acknowledge & promote this while being
mindful of Emilys condition which can cause fatigue. A general
interest in physiotherapy would be helpful but is not essential.
If you have experience of supporting others with similar conditions
that would be great but is not essential, a willingness to learn about
the condition and how it impacts daily living is needed though.
Someone who has a genuine interest in supporting others to live
their best lives and who possesses the motivation to develop trust
and understanding in the role.
