An opportunity has arisen for 2 Senior clinical fellow's ST3+ Locally Employed Doctors to work across the general medicine team at Salford Royal Hospital.

You will be an integral part of the Medical Team at Salford Royal Hospital working alongside an experienced team of Consultants and junior medical staff.

The Clinical Fellow will be part of a consultant led multidisciplinary team with responsibility for the provision of services across General and Specialist Medicine.

The post holder’s duties will be split between GIRFT and clinical obligations. They will be part of the Consultant led team providing medical care to inpatients in a senior clinical decision maker capacity, developing their enhanced skills in the assessment and management of unwell patients, supervising junior staff in their specialty, and providing support to Physicians Associates, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Specialist Nurses.

This is a Trust Doctor post ST3 + level or above equivalent position appointed for service commitments; it is not recognised for training by the Post Graduate Dean. You must keep yourself updated and work within your competencies and skill set. You must observe and adhere to all trust wide policies and procedures. You will be based within the General Medicine.

There will be participation in the middle grade on call rota.

Supervised by a senior consultant at NCA NHSFT and GIRFT’s Academic Content Lead the job role will include involvement in projects at a strategic level as well as operationally within the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust.

The GIRFT Fellow will be involved in local, regional and national quality improvement projects. They will work with senior colleagues across the NCA NHSFT and GIRFT, to assist in data gathering and analysis of national and local practice and current outcomes; drawing up best guidance practice following clinical engagement across Trusts nationally and within the NCA NHSFT; publishing and disseminating best practice following implementation. A typical fellow will author 2-3 academic peer reviewed publications during their fellowship and make a similar number of conference presentations. A key component of the projects undertaken by the GIRFT Fellow will related to environmental sustainability, an area where GIRFT has an increasing interest.
