Summary
Bhatia Best are a leading firm based in the East Midlands who specialise in Criminal Defence, Family Law, Personal Injury, Public Law and Community Care.
We have an exciting opportunity for a legal administrator to join our Family Department at our Nottingham office.
This position would suit a candidate with good administrative and organisation skills & would suit someone from a legal secretarial background.
Previous experience in a legal environment is preferred but not essential, and additional training will be offered. Good English and Mathematics skills required. Knowledge of the online legal aid billing system (Client Cost and Management System [CCMS]) would be advantageous.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Processing Legal Aid applications and dealing with amendments
• Processing invoices in accordance with office procedures
• Online diary management, to include hearings, filing dates etc.
• Ensuring hearings/ meetings are flagged for allocation
• Chasing outstanding documents
• Drafting basic court documents and standard letters
• Setting up client appointments
• Liaising with clients, the courts, and other professionals both in person, by email, and by telephone
• Ensure all relevant documents are included on the file in readiness for billing
• Opening and closing physical files
• Taking minutes of meetings
Please note office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am - 5.30pm with one hour for lunch.
