Youth and Family Engagement Worker

35 hours per week
Temporary up to 31 March 2026
£31,788 - £34,117 / £17.42 - £18.70 per hour (including shift allowance and Distance Islands Allowance)

As a Youth and Family Engagement Worker in the Community Learning, Development and Employability Team you will be working alongside colleagues to build positive relationships with children, young people and their families; to maximise wellbeing and increase opportunities.

Hours will be flexible based around the needs of the family.

You will collaborate with other relevant partners to ensure a multi-agency coherence of support which will reduce the need for crisis intervention, by focussing on prevention and early intervention.

Applicants should hold a relevant qualification at SCQF level 6/7 (i.e., SVQ3, National Certificate, Foundation Apprenticeship, Advanced Higher, Scottish Baccalaureate, HNC, Certificate of Higher Education) or have a minimum of 3 years' previous relevant experience.

The post is primarily based in Kirkwall but travel to other locations will be required. You must be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

The post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
