Summary

Education and professional qualification
Essential: Level 2-3 Childcare Qualification. A good working knowledge of the statutory framework, development statements and safeguarding.
Desirable: Current paediatric first aid certificate. Safeguarding training.
Responsible to: manager, deputy Manager, room leader
Job Purpose
To enable children to engage in a range of play and learning opportunities and meet their individual needs. To provide and help maintain a high-quality service for children and their families. Support the day to day running of the setting, working as part of a team with other staff and in partnership with parents.
Previous Essential Experience
Working as a Key person. Liaising with parents. maintaining learning journals. Observation Assessment and Planning. Working within setting policies.
Key Skills and responsibilities
• Commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young. People and adhering to setting policies.
• Adhering to the policies and procedures of Summertime Nursery in compliance with the Children’s Act, Health and Safety legislation and within the Statutory Framework of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
• Always maintaining confidentiality
• Ensure that a high level of safety is maintained
• Keep records of incidents and accidents that occur
• Value and respect individual views and the needs of others developing an environment which is inclusive, working together as part of a team which recognises and encourages diversity, equal opportunities, listening to others views and sharing ideas.
• Work collaboratively and supportively with colleagues within the organisation and with relevant external professionals.
• Work in partnership with children’s parents/carers to identify the child’s interests and needs so this can be used when supporting and planning for each individual child.
• To assume responsibility for key children ensuring their development is tracked and their learning journals updated and that each child is making progress and identifying any barriers to learning.
• Maintain a high standard within the room showing high quality interactions with children.
• Show a commitment to continual professional development.
• To plan and deliver a wide range of activities to meet the children’s needs, observe and asses for their next steps in accordance with the EYFS.
• To attend and update paid training and team meetings.
• To undertake any other duties as reasonably directed by the manager, deputy manager or trustees.
This Role requires bending, kneeling and crouching for periods of time and involves lifting and holding children during activities. To ensure the children have fresh air and outside play you will be required to also work outside at times during the day.
