Summary
Nuclear Medicine at the Royal Free is a large service covering the full range of Nuclear Medicine services. THis includes a large radionuclide therapy service and two PET CT scanners including a long axis PETCT. The Nuclear Medicine physics team support this and other units within the RFL group and other organisations we support

• Contribute to the general scientific support to in Nuclear Medicine department including: imaging, the in-vitro service, the PET/CT service and the SPECT/CT service
• Contribute to the QA program in Nuclear Medicine department
• Assist with the maintenance and development of instrumentation, procedures and computing facilities in Nuclear Medicine department.
• Advise and assist clinicians in setting up diagnostic tests and new protocols, which requires the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options.
• Investigate and resolve complex equipment problems. Carry out fault-finding on gamma, SPECT/CT and PET cameras and other complex equipment. Liaise with suppliers regarding equipment breakdown, and arrange for the maintenance and servicing of identified items of equipment. Participate in capital equipment evaluation and undertake commissioning. Assist in the choice and deployment of equipment and materials (including any structural alterations).
• Modify image processing software to meet specific clinical needs. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive QC programme for clinical
• Provide cover for the Hot Lab manager in carrying out calibration procedures on various types of radiation measuring instruments. This work will include the preparation and/or handling of several types of radioactive source.
• After suitable training, check and sign-off calculations for in-vitro studies
