Summary


The Woodlands Day Unit has a rare and exciting opportunity for a Nurse looking to develop their experience by working in The Whipps Cross Chemotherapy Day Unit .

This is a small unit aligned to the St Bartholomew’s Chemotherapy service, treating mainly Haematology patients and offering supportive care to Oncology patients. We also deliver intravenous treatments to a wider group of patients with Rheumatology and Gastroenterology conditions.

Our nurses work in small teams to deliver high quality care to our patients attending for chemotherapy and immunotherapies, as well as a range of supportive treatments, such as transfusions, IV infusions, hormone injections and CVC line care. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 who has current NHS experience and who has an interest in Haematology/Oncology.

Candidates should have a minimum of 6 months acute nursing experience as a Qualified Nurse within a hospital setting .

Woodlands team can access the training and development opportunities provided across the Trust. We have a strong and diverse nursing team which can support the development of juniors. Our nurses are supported to work autonomously, as required in day care units Band 5 nurses are given the opportunity to attend the Chemotherapy Course run at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and to gain chemotherapy accreditation on completion of the London Chemotherapy Passport.

Our shifts are 4 x 9.5 hours each week

The aim of this post is to develop cancer nurses within the clinical area. The post holder will provide direct care to the patients treated at Woodlands Day unit WXH,under the direct supervision of Senior colleagues whilst acquiring the specialist skills and knowledge to meet the needs of this patient group. The post holder will also be required to provide direct care to Rheumatology , Gastroenterology and other patients from other specialties treated at Woodlands day unit

The post holder will develop the necessary skills and be required to complete chemotherapy training and competencies
