Summary

To lead and manage a defined team on a day to day basis to provide a clinically effective, evidence based service to children / young people with complex health needs / disability in a community setting. To provide specialist evidence based nursing care for sick children in the community, to reduce the length of hospital admissions/ attendances when safe to do so. Be responsible for ensuring that clinical governance requirements are met within the team. To work within a multi professional and multi agency context to promote seamless care for service users To facilitate early discharge and delivery of care in the childs own environment To ensure that the social and educational inclusion agenda is promoted To promote the physical and emotional well being of children with special needs To acknowledge and respect individual rights and personal dignity To teach qualified and unqualified staff and carers clinical procedures and assess competence in relation to individual children using evidence based practice. Team Leaders are expected to provide Mentorship and preceptorship for new team members, support workers, informal carers and pre and post registration students. Job Purpose The Senior Sister / Charge Nurse has 24 hour accountability, including line managing, for their ward / department. They must deliver quality nursing care by ensuring appropriate systems and processes are in place to ensure the continuity of safe and effective care at all times. Deputises for Matron as required / appropriate Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate.The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first months pay.
