Our young people can still be quite active at night so you will have lots of interaction and will be required to support them their wellbeing, education, household tasks and general life skills. There will also be more challenging aspects to the role such as incident management and de-escalation of challenging behaviours. You will be required to update online care records, complete medication administration and provide effective handovers to the day staff. In addition, you will be responsible for the general upkeep and tidiness of the home ensuring the young people live in homely environment. Even though you are working nights, you will have the support of another night worker or a sleep in and have access to an on-call manager for additional support. At our home in Bolton, you will be working with young people who have a variety of mental health diagnosis including Emotionally unstable personality disorder and complex Trauma, and those who use self-harm as a strategy to cope with their emotions. As such, you will be required to be patient, calm and resilient as the support you will be providing to our young people will include helping them to develop their relationships within the community and managing incidents of self-harm. All young people at the service require support to engage in activities of daily living and improve their independence skills so that they can work towards living in the community once the placement ends. Therefore, you will be supporting this transition through things such as: supporting them to self-administer their own medication, getting back into education, accessing public transport and appointments independently. Our young people are very adventurous and engage in a variety of activities including going to theme parks, horse Riding, attending driving lessons, they also like to camp out so you will be encouraged to bring your hobbies to work and create new ideas of interests so there is lots of fun and new experiences. The home is a 5-bed service and is in Heaton, Bolton. It is also a short drive or bus journey away from the centre of Bolton, so is close enough to numerous local amenities. The house is a picturesque large property, which is well maintained and homely, making it a lovely environment to work in. There is also huge garden attached to the rear of the house, making it a perfect place for growing vegetables and playing outdoor games and all-important outdoor camping trips.
