Applications are invited for a Consultant Diagnostic Neuroradiologist (DNR) to join our friendly and forward-thinking team and contribute to the activity of our busy department. You will have the opportunity to enhance a subspecialty interest, and to progress your career at one of the largest acute teaching trusts in the country, with opportunities to participate in research, education and radiological innovation.

The 10 PA posts cover all aspects of diagnostic neuroradiology. Subspecialist areas of interest that would particularly complement those of the existing team are adult neuro-oncology, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, neurodegeneration, paediatrics, pituitary, spine.

The Wessex Neurological Centre at Southampton General Hospital is the regional neuroscience unit, providing a dedicated, integrated, 24 hour acute neurosurgical and neurological assessment, investigation and treatment service to adults and children. Stereotactic radiosurgery is provided within the large Oncology unit.

As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help enhance your career. UHS is rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, was in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.

As a Trust, we support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are eligible for a range of NHS discounts and can access on-site nursery facilities.

Situated on the south coast, Southampton is an attractive place to live and work with excellent amenities. It offers living costs 20% lower than London and many high-rated schools. It has excellent travel links. The area is internationally renowned for its maritime facilities and the New Forest National Park and the Jurassic coast are also nearby.

UHS NHSFT provides services to approximately 1.9 million people living in the local area, and specialist services, including neuroscience, cardiothoracic and specialist paediatric services, to nearly 4 million people in central southern England and the Channel Islands.

UHS is a centre of excellence for teaching and research in association with the University of Southampton, offering opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and, with partners including the Medical Research Council and Welcome Trust, providing excellent facilities for research and clinical care.
