Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Musculoskeletal specialist to join the Therapies team within Barts Health Trust. They should have an exceptional knowledge of musculoskeletal physiotherapy principles and have experience of treating a variety of peripheral and spinal patients. Assessments and treatments will be through face to face and virtual appointments. Evidence of involvement in project management and audit will be desirable.

The post holder will join the Barts Health musculoskeletal team based at Whipps Cross Hospital and its community sites. They will have the opportunity to work alongside different specialties including, Orthopaedic, Rheumatology and Community Pain clinics. They will have supervisory responsibility for a Band 6 physiotherapist and students, providing appraisals, teaching and clinical support with managing demanding caseloads. They will also have roles linked to the Band 8 line managers that will facilitate their managerial and leadership qualities, for example GP liaison, education and Musculoskeletal Audit champion. We have an excellent evidence based in-service training program covering each individual joint with theoretical knowledge, practical skills and clinical implementation. The MSK Therapies team also has a strong Band 8 strategic and clinical leadership team including APPs and FCPs, who support the MSK physiotherapy team to deliver the best possible patient care.

To provide specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapy treatment to outpatients as part of the overall therapy provision. The post holder will be responsible for their own caseload providing thorough clinical assessment, planning treatment and appropriate discharge from the service adapting practice to suit the needs of the patient. To provide clinical supervision and appraisal to junior staff, therapy assistants and students.To provide specialist outpatient physiotherapy to patients with a wide range of acute and long term conditions. To adapt physiotherapy practice to suit the needs of the patient.To provide clinical supervision and appraisal for junior staff, therapy rehabilitation assistants and students.Participate in ongoing service evaluation and development.

Although this position is a 12 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks.
