Summary


We are pleased to invite you to apply for the post of Senior Theatre Practitioner within the world renowned Pulvertaft Hand Unit. Applicants should be Operating Department Practitioners or Registered nurses

The Hand Day Case suite is comprised of 3 operating theatres, a recovery area and an 8 bedded ward within a day case setting offering all aspects of hand surgery including orthopaedics, trauma, micro vascular and plastic surgery.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team in a busy Day Case environment and should be able to confidently assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. You must be organised with good attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team. You must show enthusiastic leadership skills and the ability to act as a Line Manager.

We offer yearly mandatory training, in-house training and support as required. Other training can also be arranged at the manager's discretion.

You must be physically able to work and support others.

As a Senior Theatre Practitioner you will work clinically as a lead member of the team in partnership with the Theatre Coordinator to provide clinical, professional and managerial leadership for the theatre team.

Organise theatre lists on a day to day basis, acting as team leader in that list managing the surgical equipment, staffing within theatre and liaising with the theatre co-ordinator. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute clinically and managerially.

Proactively co-ordinate the trauma and elective lists in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team in order to create a continuous patient pathway. Enthusiastically embrace operating challenges and improve the quality and standard of care delivered to patients

The post holder is expected to maintain their professional/essential development within the scope of their individual appraisal and according to service needs.

The department also facilitates a wide variety of learners and there is a desirability for the post holder to support/mentor them as appropriate.
