B7 Specialist Epilepsy Nurse

Part-time (2 days per week – 15 hours)

Are you an experienced and dedicated nurse with a passion for epilepsy care?

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist Epilepsy Nurse to join our dynamic team at NELFT. As a Band 7 Specialist Epilepsy Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing advanced, patient-centred care to individuals living with epilepsy.

Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver expert clinical care and support for patients with epilepsy, including comprehensive assessments and individualized care plans.
• Educate patients, families, and healthcare professionals on epilepsy management, including seizure recognition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and coordinate care effectively.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols, guidelines, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Provide leadership and support to junior staff and participate in service development projects.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,258 to a maximum of £2,122 p.a. pro rata for part time).
• Registered Nurse (RN) with current NMC registration.
• Degree in Nursing or relevant healthcare field; post-graduate qualification in epilepsy or neurology nursing is highly desirable.
• Extensive experience in epilepsy care, including advanced clinical skills and knowledge.
• Proven ability to educate and train patients, families, and healthcare staff.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
