Summary

PLEASE REFER TO THE ATTACHED JOB DESCRIPTION FOR FULL DUTIES OF THE ROLE Lead midwife providing specialist care and advice for women with pre-existing and gestational diabetes. To plan, assess and evaluate full programme of individualised care from preconception to postnatal period, taking cognisance of social, physical, psychological and cultural needs, for all women including those with complex care needs. Midwifery CNST link for diabetes. Liaise and work very closely with the Specialist Diabetic Consultant and the Specialist nursing team to ensure all aspects of Diabetic care are monitored and managed effectively. Joint Lead professional for some diabetic women. You will be required to work at least one day per month clinically to embed a culture of visible leadership and maintain own clinical skills and expertise. Works autonomously within the NMC, Trust and Directorate Guidelines. Must deliver high quality midwifery care by ensuring appropriate systems and processes are in place to provide the continuity of safe and effective care at all times. They will act as a champion for professional accountability and standards, ensuring that professional practices are in line with the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and Trust Policy. Support and contribute to the development of patient care and midwifery practice within the Directorate. Supervising junior staff. Contribute to Trust wide projects as required. Ensure effective line management of staff and ensure they are supported in performing to their full potential. Ensure junior staff have appropriate support and supervision and are appropriately assessed. To comply with the trusts vision, values and behavioural compact.
